Kinpachi Sensei 7: Episode 19

When Kinpachi Sensei tells his fellow teachers that Shu is a heroin addict some of them want to call the police right away. Others, including the principal, back up his wish to postpone that and to talk to the other 3B students about the whole drug issue first. Kinpachi returns to his class and leaves everyone with the choice of going home or supporting Shu and attending Kinpachi's lesson on drugs. Everybody stays. When Shu realizes that all this is about him he freaks out.

At one point Kinpachi recites a poem to Shu to calm him down. It's called Ikiru and was written by Tanikawa Shuntaro. Here it is, if you want to read along (sorry, I couldn't find a translation):

　　いま生きているということ

　　それはのどがかわくということ

　　木（こ）もれ陽がまぶしいということ

　　ふっと或るメロディを思い出すということ

　　くしゃみすること

　　あなたと手をつなぐこと

　　それはミニスカート

　　それはプラネタリウム

　　それはヨハン・シュトラウス

　　それはピカソ

　　それはアルプス

　　すべての美しいものに出会うということ

　　そして

　　かくされた悪を注意深くこばむこと

　　生きているということ

　　泣けるということ

　　笑えるということ

　　怒れるということ

　　自由ということ

　　生きているということ

　　いま生きているということ

　　いま遠くで犬が吠えるということ

　　いま地球が廻っているということ

　　いまどこかで産声（うぶごえ）があがるということ

　　いまどこかで兵士が傷つくということ

　　いまぶらんこがゆれているということ
